COMMUNITY-BASED EDUCATION (CBE)

for students . . . an opportunity to build relationships that lead to future practice options
for communities . . . an opportunity to promote your town

The goal of Community-based Education is to provide health professions students a real-life experience in a community setting.

The goal for Texas communities is to use this hosting experience as a recruiting tool, allowing both the community and the student to learn about each other to determine if a future professional relationship is a good fit.

Texas AHECs provide opportunities for students to be placed in medical, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nursing, dentistry and other healthcare related programs. We work with universities and health professions training programs from across the state.

Each placement provides many situations for the students to develop their skills and knowledge under the direction of practicing community health professionals and offers an additional man-power resource to the health facility.
